About the Artist

Luigi Scornaienchi

Atelier trained contemporary oil and pencil artist

Luigi discovered his artistic calling in his early forties, when a long-suppressed desire for creative expression became urgent. He reconnected with his grade-eight art teacher, Gene Prokop, and began lessons the following week. By his second painting — his first portrait — he realized that creating and sharing art was a central purpose in his life.

Luigi’s passion for fine brushwork and attention to detail is rooted in childhood experiences with his father, a masonry contractor. Accompanying him on job sites, Luigi learned design, problem-solving, and craftsmanship — foundations that now inform his precise and thoughtful approach to painting and drawing.

Over the past eleven years, Luigi has studied intensively at Pro’s Atelier, developing expertise in realism, anatomy, composition, and traditional oil techniques. His education also includes specialized training with hyperrealist painter Emmanuele Dascanio and local drawing instructor, Suzanne Lamoureaux. Most recently, Luigi is enrolled in New Masters Academy, an atelier school with a rigorous curriculum in the fundamentals and award winning faculty. He supplements his formal instruction with self-directed study through books, e-courses, museum visits, and independent practice, continually expanding his techniques and artistic perspective.

Luigi’s work has been exhibited at Pro’s Atelier shows, Confections Cafe, and the Royal Glenora and Derrick Clubs, where Into the Storm has been displayed since February 2025. The same piece was selected for ART Fluent’s international online exhibit, UNTAMED, from 367 entries across four countries. Upcoming shows include the Derrick Club’s November exhibition and the Pro's Art Show at the Royal Glenora in May 2026.
